| Pothananjilickal, the
sprawling home stay about an hour ( 40 Kms ) from
Cochin enroute to Alleppey is situated at a quaint
little village called Thanky. Pothananjilickal means
"the abode by the hollow anjili tree”.
There is a mammoth anjili tree (Artocarpus Hirsutus)
with a hollow in its wood towering above the house
and myth has it that the anjili is at the most appropriate
place and that when one tree withers away during
the course of time, another takes its place and
believe it or not, that tree also sports a hollow!
The hosts are Mr. Alex G Anthraper , his wife
Susy and children, Jeevan and Jwala. He is a chartered
accountant and she a renowned culinary expert.
The children are college going. Though they live
in Cochin, they maintain Pothananjilickal meticulously
and almost every weekend they go and unwind there.
The hosts have now decided to entertain up to
6 people at a time and have set apart a wing of
the house for home stay. |
